This still is not giving some idea. Maybe you have older files on C4D main foldermiroof wrote:21h25:i delete the c4doctane folder in my pluging then unzip the last version
( except for one version who needed old files )
I had oct.dat inside cinema 4d folder
21h26:I just to delete this .dat, let's see if it was my problem
21:27: I crashed launching a preview in the live render, i just order to convert my material to octane during this time.

I suppose that ungenerated geometry problem is on Spheres only.
For Blue screen, i'm using driver 314.22 and have never any problems. This seems like a driver-hardware problem. But i don't have much more technical info about it. General forum section can be more helpful for you.
I will step back to 314.22 and hope it will fix that bluescreens.
Edit: Also had bluescreens with 314.22 today

Just some seconds before it happens, one of two of my GTX 590 dissapear, then windows crashes with bluescreen. I tried to take one of the two completely offline and did some short test and had no more bluescreen so far, but need more testing. Hope it is only a PSU problem and not the GTX590 (read something about it in the net, also we had heavy thunder last week, maybe there has been an energy damage somehow).
I will try to make a testscene with the light tag problem...

Sorry for the delay, had a little rushhour here
Ok Ahmed.
What i did: I took a szene from the samples pack and exported it as a 3ds. Polys were pretty the same count. I set up the szene in max, like the szene is in c4d. Same hdri, same materials, same DOF playing, same animation of the hdri. Even more animation than in the c4d szene. So you see the szene is pretty much the same as the sample szene in c4d, even more complex.
I used same resolution, same graphics cards, same kernel settings, same everything, i hope you can see the setup clearly in the video itself!
I changed between max and c4d viewport and moved and played the animation. As you can see in the video, max plays the animation completely smooth, 95% realtime, while c4d is compared to the max viewport very very laggy and allways a little behind. You also can see that i set the c4dobjects tag to the different items. In max all items are set to "movable proxy", the hdri, the 3d models itself, everything is set to movable proxy like in c4d every obejct has a tag! I really hope there is something i do wrong, cause otherwise the max plugin is simply faster than the c4d plugin!
The video is not "listed" on youtoube, so only you guys, with this link here can see it!
Tell me ahmed when i can delete it again!
Kind regards Chris!

Very interesting comparison Chris. It's always good to keep an eye on what a competitor is doing (Max Plugin). I would love to see the C4D plug hold it's own against the Max plugin. I think Ahmed is still working on optimizations for the Object tag. He's mentioned it's getting heavily reworked.
Well, we know exactly where the bar is now. That's good!
Thanks Chris-

hi chris, interesting, but could you redo the test with one gpu for c4d and another one for max?
using both the gpus with two applications at the same time is not a good idea

Hi Beppe!
In the Vid you can see that i allways paused the render viewport. Nevertheless i tried it now with only 1 gpu and after that with only one programm open. No difference. I could make a video, of course, but this is quite a bit of work, to record, render, upload. There is absolutely no difference, believe me
I just hope Ahmed tells me that i do a mistake that is the reson why is C4D slower!
Kind regards Chris!

i'm not sure about different. Need some comparision tests. Maybe max plugin send only transform data and hold every mesh under a seperate octane geometry. But i don't think we are slow for sending full scene data. Thanks for nice video

I really hope you see the speed difference clearly in the Video. It is definetly much slower than the max plugin here. I tried today on a 3930K Cpu which has a much faster voxelisation and there C4D is slower too. So i dont think its a question of CPU. I have the szenes and if you can get Max and a max plugin, you can see the speed difference by yourself. Maybe you can exchange with Karba.
The whole viewport update seems in C4d slower than in the Max viewport. I thing the root of the problem is the same with the 3d mouse problem, cause in mac the 3d mouse update in viewport works too! I have the szenes and can send them to you if you want to, to make your own comparisons! The vid is realtime but seeing it and working with it is a completely different point of view. If i can help you in any way, write me!
Chris!
I have max and plugin, i have checked same scene which is similar results with your video. There is some reasons. Your version has not yet speed optimised due stability problems. It's not a quick process for me. Second can be each program has different scene graphs. Max is simplier than C4D. I don't think there is voxelling speed differents. Seems like fetching data lags. First way is to go with stability. But it needs deep diving to codes, so need to wait apporipate free time to do. If i have some process can ask you to help.cfrank78 wrote:
