Background Image was just for those of us who composite... we begged for it
and eventually got it. It works great. Please don't have them throw in crap that
is going to mess it up...

And DOF?... how do you propose this?.. bg image is not in 3D space..

Do your bg stuff in post please.

hi,
octane you use to make anything like scene? you never use the background with depth of field? Well yes me!
you find it working well? NO! it does not work precisely. So I ask. Because doing background alpha chanel it starts a little to break my ...
and finally, I thought it was here that asked a thing or two?

I have no problems with this version I just request an improvement.
you have already tried to work with Arion? try you will love management background. good evening

Sorry bro - did not mean to upset you.. or pick a fight...

I kind of meant that in a lighthearted, half-kidding way.

I'm sure that bg image stuff could possibly be improved -- but only after
we get invisible to camera feature (and other compositing features, if possible)...

After invisible to camera is in Octane, I personally could care less what other
features may or may not be added.. or when. To me, this is single greatest thing
missing from Octane... that is where I am coming from.

But you have every right to ask for anything your heart desires.. I can not grasp why
someone would want bg dof in Octane.. but that doesn't mean that some dudes may
not have a great need for it.. just like you or others may not give a rat's ass about
invisible to camera.

I missed unseen to camera for a couple of last projects too. I had to do numerous workarounds to overcome this shortcoming.

There is a bug in lens shift - values now range from -100000 to 100000 which makes the sliders useless.

There are problems with the range limits for some parameters (the same has been reported for the environment map shift). If this happens, cut the node and paste it (use right-click), this will restore the correct limits. The next release fixes this issue.

it would be nice that the limits could be user defined... there are some cases that the range is too small... for instance, sometimes I need to make the bump intensity larger than 1... why not 10 or 100?

In softimage there is no limit on the range of sliders, it adapts automaticaly and one can use even negative numbers.

and please, please, implement a button to refresh all scatter nodes!

I use dozens of scatter nodes in a scene and to update them I have to refresh one by one... or reload the scene which is also time consuming.

@Roeland :

Please, while fixing the trouble with sliders limits, could it be possible to add negative scaling in transform node at the same time ?

This feature has been requested many times and was supposed to be easy to implement if I remember well the first and only answer I got about it a long time ago.

Negative scaling would allow to mirror easily and quickly objects (saving memory) for symmetrical buildings (even cars could be cut in half in many cases) for example, and is simpler and faster than exporting a scatter file just for a symmetry.
