there is libs32 and libs64 dir.
libs32 is for "CINEMA 4D.exe"
libs64 is for "CINEMA 4D 64 Bit.exe"
Plugin may look this directories. Normally you don't have to octane.dll in main folder and it can found. But some users has reported that plugin is not starting without copying to main folder
**** Updated to 0.6.5 ****
You must use 0.5.9 or newer octane libs for that
I also get into licencing trouble since the version 0.5.7, currently 0.6.4. Didn`t have this troubles with 0.5 or 0.5.6 as I remember. On C4D startup it says, that my licence is activated on another machine at the moment and octane cannot run. It doesn`t happen, when I disconnect to the internet.
Workaround:
I discovered it has to do with the cinema 4D startup layout again (at least for me). When I delete the octane preview window and the octane settings window from my startup layout, this error does not happen, even if connected to the internet. I then can load octane after startup and it shows up correctly without any error.
A bit strange and anoying, because the startup layout has been working correctly in 0.4.9 and 0.5.0 I think.
But beside that, I want to thank you again for your hard work and fast devolopment of the plugin... just loaded 0.6.4 two hours ago and do animation rendering with it, and now there is 0.6.5.
By the way, whats new in 0.6.5? Would be nice, if you could do a little list of changes for the mini updates as well.
Thank you,
Greetings,
ChrisVis

yes, this problem was reported before. Account system changed last versions i think this caused problem. Saved Octane windows cannot register when is updated.
0.6.5 has fixes for reported problems on 0.6.4. I hope it is going to work better
as you mentioned in the first post, I`d like to report some stability issues I`ve run into so far with Version 0.5.9, mainly with animation rendering. (Testing 0.6.4 at the moment, rendered 70 frames so far without crash)
- got random crashes of C4D (app hang) with animation rendering (preview renderer with full scene update activated), sometimes after 20 frames, sometimes after 100 or 150 frames of correctly rendered frames
- had trouble with frame skipping when doing preview rendering again with some scenes (only every 2nd frame rendered and then two sequently frames saved with equal content) -> this problem goes away when full scene update is activated for preview rendering <- but as mentioned before rendering is less stable, I didn`t have any crashes when doing preview rendering without full scene update
- random crashes also seem to happen when rendering with Cinema 4D Picture Manager (which also uses full scene update)
- had some issues with C4D clone objects and not showing the right number of cloned objects in the picture manager renderer of C4D but in the openGl preview and the Octane Live viewer (I prepare a testscene for that, maybe this is a C4D bug and not a C4D octane one)
So far,

yes i'm targetting this kind of problems. I want to getting far better version before going to Octane 1.20. Can you test 0.6.5?
for C4D clone objects, i need to see your scenes. But some c4d objects not generate polygon for example sphere with render perfect. Or floor object. Live viewer uses some polygon generation with Opengl Viewport. But Picture renderer not
just tried the 0.6.5 version but didn`t get C4D to start at all, it hangs on startup without any error message. Back to 0.6.4 and it works again.
I will send you a PM with the bugreport.

downloaded the repacked 0.6.5 and deleted previous installation completely, but getting the same hang up at start up. (and I don`t have Octane in the C4D start up layout anymore).
I see the C4D start up layout but cannot do anything, the mouse symbol is cycling forever, so I can only close C4D through the task manager.
Maybe my bugreport could give some info why it doesn`t work for me?
When I replace the c4dOctane folder with the 0.6.4. files it works again...
