I was playing with normal maps a bit, creating some matrials =) I've noticed that I was runing very old version of Octane for 3dMax, so updated..to v1.17.

for my surprise, now I couldn't get more pronounced texture - looks too flat..am I doing smth wrong or is it known issue that I've missed? =) thanks.

p.s. image settings where altered so don't take this as one-to-one comparison. The focus here is that surface on a new version at least for me looks too flat..

ghm, maybe everything is right..as I look more & more - now trying to play in Octane standalone - it seems the result is similar..

maybe it's just my taste that I do preffere normal 1st image..for some reason =)
same 'flatness' in Stanalone..so it seems time to improve normal map itself =DDD

Yes, the bump/normal maps have had some work done on them in the later releases.

(both the SDK for plugins and standalone were changed)

This was due to reports of problems: http://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=31016

Thanks
Chris.
