Hello Everyone,
I unfortunately have the same problem as 'nehale'. The C4D plugin used to run perfectly and suddenly the only thing I get is a black screen (software rendering works just fine). I have updated my GTX 680 driver with a clean install, deactivated and activated Octane, even reinstalled C4D (R14). The problem is with every scene, even a standard cube will not show up. The problem is with versions 0.5, 0.5.7 and 0.5.9. Octane standalone is 1.1.
I have noticed that when I start C4D, the GPU is ticked off in the settings of Octane. Ticking it on doesn't help.
Any suggestions?
BR
Philip
EDIT: another thing I have noticed - adding an Octane texture crashes C4D. I do not see the preview sphere, just an empty box, no settings.

is it Enabled or not?
Did you try with 1.17?

Yup, that was the problem. I had the Octane settings window docked in my default interface. Removing it and restarting has solved my problem. Thanks for your help!

Goodnight,
to start, congratulations for all the work you do to improve and Octane Render plugin for cinema 4D.
If the problem has already been mentioned, I beg you to excuse the duplicate.
My problem comes from the specular material.
As you can see from the first picture, the light does not pass through the bay window.
For as the sun enters the room, as in the second picture, I've been playing with the intensity of opacity.
Is this normal?
I used the 0.5.9 version and SDK 1.17 with cinema 4D R14
Thank you in advance

you need to activate the "fake shadow" option in the proper tab in the attribute editor for letting the sun goes through the specular material, and activate the "alpha shadow" option in the kernel settingashurao wrote: My problem comes from the specular material.

octane is the only render i know that needs special adjustments to let light go though glassbepeg4d wrote:you need to activate the "fake shadow" option in the proper tab in the attribute editor for letting the sun goes through the specular material, and activate the "alpha shadow" option in the kernel settingashurao wrote: My problem comes from the specular material.

even maxwell does not had any option for this for a long time, at least we have an option that solve the problem

since the "fake shadow" (less) and the "alpha shadow" (more) options have an impact on the overall speed, they are desabled and must to be activated if needed.
anyway, any octane setting can be saved in a the classic new.c4d file, in order to personalize octane to your everyday needs
