I agree with Peter Max.
I think the problem with unbiased renders is That they are
all aimed to product visualization or Architectural, automobilistic still frames.
I started a topic in this forum about Octane standalone, towards this very same issue.
and all I want is to understand Why Octane don't agressively follow the animation path !
The plugins ,even , made Octane very exciting for animation with it's unbeatable
photographic look, However if you have a decent scene and don't use direct light
but PMC , the render of a single frame ,gets gorgeous but still grainy ...
after 44 minutes and 08 seconds , it is way too long .
I have a Windows 7 system , I7 processor 8 cores 12 ram
and my card is NVIDIA Quadro 4000.
animation voxelization way tooo slow!!
If you have the funds, get a better video card. The Quadro has horrible performance to price ratio in Octane. They are great for a display card, but you really need a GTX for rendering. (A GTX 460 which is less than $200 is more than twice as fast). Check this spreadsheet for more on render times.emihich wrote:I agree with Peter Max.

That being said, we were told that "Octane Cloud Edition" will be released in July. This will mean almost instant (or at least extremely fast) completion of an animation (if you wanna spend the $).
Intel quad core i5 @ 4.0 ghz | 8 gigs of Ram | Geforce GTX 470 - 1.25 gigs of Ram

use a GTX then,Thank you for the invaluable tip.
I am weeping over the thousand dollars spent on the Quadro, and I though that would be a good one for Octane..
I am aware and can't wait to try Octane on the cloud.
All good things to you!
...
2 days later , I realized that I've got a GTX 560 that I bought sometime ago for using with Octane, Do you think it is going to work ?
