I was listening to Jules presentation The convergence of cinema and games from the 19th May.
He says beta trials will start in a couple of weeks which I take to be quite soon. Shortly after Octane 1.2 comes out anyway, I suspect. In that he reveals a 12 gb vram card is coming out this year. I take it that is confined to Tesla? I think I read somewhere about a 12 gb Tesla..Does he know about continued 6gb Geforce cards come Maxwell, or can he give an obscure hint of that? ;)
He also speaks of 8k and 16k images. Does this imply internal compositing of render regions or is that going to be a native increase in render resolutions? Will the present 26m poly scene limit be upgraded for 12gb capacity soon then? I suppose that implies 75m polys max...well a bit less cos you are wanting a large image too so say 64m, except I am wondering how people will load that into the gpu - possibly 64 gb needed. Not many mobo handle that. Most applications would bog down well before 64m polys. Does he expect people can work with and upload that sort of file size in a practical sense?? Just curious :)
Looking at holographic data sets this implies what sort of rendering cost for one of those flat sheets shown? (the aerial view of the cityscape)

Edit: I know you are thinking I ask a lot of questions but Jules does seem to do a lot of talking.. :P
