So, let´s see if there is some experimented guys here to give some advice about this:

A customer wants me to make an archviz of a 3 floor private house (only interiors)

She wants two proposals for each floor (designs provided by her). She will discard one of each so I will work with the proposals accepted.
She wants the proposals not to show it to her customer, but just to examine them privately and decide.

Then... I set a value of 200€ for a single full room. The house is like the following:

Proposals: 1 day of work each floor (600€)
1st floor: 5 rooms (1000€)
2nd floor: 4 rooms (800€)
Attic: 3 rooms (600€)
FINAL AMOUNT TO CHARGE: 3000€

What do you think about it? Is that a fair price? I see it´s a big project, so it sounds fine to me.

the amount of money is as it is. but the value of that amount depends how You judge /what quality level, how much time etc./ pluss it depends what a client is - privat person, developer, architect etc..

in one case 3k€ looks too steep, on the other side if the house costs 1mln€ and the project itself is pricy - who cares.. in the end You should not only make Your work, but make Your client happy. if the client is good with the bill..

This is a good topic, I'll be commissioned shortly for a few interior views and I'll have to propose a fee. I work full-time so rendering has only been a hobby for me, but now I'll have my first freelance job. I don't know how to charge. The client and myself are aware I am not a professional so I want to give a fair price, but not too low as I don't want to set a precedent.
And of course I want him to be happy and recommend me to others.

Is it advisable to provide a fee breakdown, like the one Paquito has described, or you'd rather give a final price for the whole job? Would you charge by hourly rates?
Do you ask for a 20% or 50% payment up front at the start?

Hey Paquito,

It all depends, do you work with libraries? do you have to model all or some of the furniture? and more importantly, how much time do you have? Imo, if you are given less than a month to do all these, 3000€ seems a little too much. I tend to calculate budget on how much time I am to invest doing something. One month and a half and it's probably fair, two months is acceptable, three or more is too cheap.

I would try to evaluate the price on how long it takes to do the entire work and then charge somewhere around 40-70 euros per hour. The 3000 euros would give you about 5.5 - 9.5 workdays to finish the job. Does that sound reasonable?

Edit: the rate obviosly might change depending on the country.

sounds like a lot of images, to my mind

could it not be covered by some perspective sectional images, and / or one of those exploded axonometric thingys? get the garden in, etc

less is more...?

Well, the project as suffered a delay, so first they have to finish the pre-project, the whe can start the work itself. I´ll have to wait, but will keep you informed.
