Is there a way to key values? I'm trying to control the "Amount" on a MixMaterial via a driven key, to be able to switch between two shaders with one final node. I guess I could connect a black/white texture and key invert, provided black is 0 and white is 1 but are there any plans on manking these types of features keyable?

Thanks!

Hi Robin,

You can animate this value by connecting an Octane float texture node to the mix attribute of the mix material and set keys on the float texture. There are very good reasons why some attributes on Octane nodes cannot be keyed directly, they are to do with the way Octane nodes work and how they have been implemented in the Maya plugin with much discussion with the initial beta test team to make them as natural for Maya users as possible. These reasons have been explained many times by JimStar in other threads so I won't try to repeat them here.

A helpful tip - In the attribute editor, if the attribute on an Octane node has a yellow circular icon to it's left then it will not be directly keyable and you will need to connect something that is. If the icon is a curve in a square then the attribute should be directly keyable.

tailorstore, as a workaround for invert value you can use network like this one:
