Merci ! :)

I have got a big trouble with Blender : I am never able to convert more than around 3000 particles at a time into real objects, otherwise Blender freezes. So the scenes lack of real grass.

I have to create many scatter files instead of few bigs. I am currently rendering again some images with much more grass and flower made the old way (Old Tomb Raider style) with crossed mapped planes with alpha.

Stay tuned !

I've created scatters up to around 100,000 particles. The process is not very fast and can take a few minutes to export this many but I've not actually have any problem doing so.

Here is a render that I did recently that had around 8 particles systems totally approximately 300,000 particles.

Overall its really pretty good. 8.5 out of 10 I suppose. ;) Something about it catches my eye and I think its that road needs a bit of camber because in some of the shots the cars look as though they are sitting on a plane and it doesn't quite fit in with the scenery. Even straight roads usually have 3% fall to each side for drainage. I like your theme and your shots however. :)

I don't know if it is due to the fact that I have only 8GB od RAM. I always encountered this bad trouble. The script to create scatter files doesn't work directly with particles, and so I have to make them real, and I have never been able to make real more than 3000-5000 particles. For my big forests under snow, I have had to create many scatters for around 110 000 fir trees.

When I reach the limit, the cursor is busy for a moment, shortly normal, and busy again, and so on, and I have to kill Blender. I already had this problem with 2.49b under Win XP 32, and it is still the same with Blender 2.66a under Win 7 pro x64.

I don't know if this helps or not Roubal but I used to have trouble with Blender slowing down a lot when there are a lot of meshes and the outliner was showing in the UI. If I switched over to a text window doing things went a fair bit faster. I guess its the way the list is buffered or updated....

Thanks Pixelrush, I will try this trick ! I am currently increasing the slope of the road (it already had some, in fact). Currently, the center of the road is 10 cm higher than borders, and it is still almost not noticeable on the renders !

I have noticed a weird thing about the display of colors by the Window viewer :
It may explain the problem that I have with saturation. People are always saying that my colors are too saturated (green espescially in my vegetation) despithe the fact that I have decrease of 20% and again 30% : I have noticed that my original png and bmp look natural (I set the saturation to 0.8 in Octane), but the images saved into jpg with Photoshop Elements for display on my website and forums look very green when previewed in Window viewer :!:

First image (new plants), the original image is rendered at 0.8 of saturation. -20% of saturation in post-pro and still green !

Second image 0.8 at render time only.

Hey Roubal, I know how it's hard to make realist environnement and roads, especially when Octane don't support multiple UV and material on same polys... I encourage you to keep it up, the progression is very appreciable !

About the car, maybe the front wheels are a bit too much rotate and seems to turn to the offroad.
