Hi guys,

Sorry for these extremely basics questions. I am playing with the Maya plug-in for Octane render.
I created a light and chose a plane for geometry. How do I hide the plane from my render in the IPR window?
At the moment the plane is rendered with my scene and I don't want that to happen. I just want the lightning coming from the plane.

Also is it possible to give the light coming from the plane a color?

Many thanks for your help.

Hi guys,

Any kind soul out there willing to tell me how to give a color to my light in Maya + Octane plugin?
I know how to create a plan as a light source but would like to learn how to give that light some color.

Many thanks

Hi Nennig,

To hide the light just set it's opacity to 0, it will still illuminate. You can change its colour by changing the temperature setting, this will give you a range of colours from warm to cool like lights in photographic terms. For more exotic colours or to have a textured light you need to add an OctaneTextureEmission node to a diffuse shaders emission input and map it's efficiency to a texture, which can be a constant colour, and then apply that diffuse shader to a poly plane (or any polygonal geometry for that matter) to turn that geometry into a light.
