Hi Paul,

I encountered insuffeciency in my workflow today.

With daylight the sun can be set different for each view and will activated in the plugin
for each view... So then you just have to activate the view and hit the render button.

With 16 views to render I tried to use the same hdri as background, not daylight,
therefore did not use the sunsetting of the the AC view.
While the angles of the camera are different I wanted to adjust the x-rotation for the hdri to get the shadows properly.
Because I cannot save this settings I hav to do that for each view over and over again.
Luckely I wrote down the setting for each view, because I had to replicate the settings when rendering a certain view again after making changes to the scene.

So, for the future it might be great ro be able and save the OR sertting belonging to a view,
Not only rhe hdri background, but also other settings. In my case I had different settings for alpha enabled/disabled,
aperture and other.

Maybe my workflow would have been easier with daylight instead of hdri,
but I don't mind doing some manual re-settings to get the wanted result.
And a batch render would have helped today if manual setting are needed,
but savong the settings to a view in combination with batch.... Wow, that would be nice future :P

It has been a joy working with the plugin again :!:
Hopefully I can show results when project progresses.

Greetings, Jeroen

I am implementing view based rendertargets into one of the other plugins (today!), and intend using the same system for the ArchiCAD plugin.

In summary, there is a default "scene" rendertarget, which all views default to. When you have the plugin open, and are viewing a 3d perspective view, you can "create a new rendertarget for this view", which does exactly that. Then when you activate this view at any point it will load the rendertarget nodes for that view (ie. imager, camera, kernel, postproc, environment - possibly not resolution). The rendertarget for the view will be saved in the ArchiCAD pln file (so will be there the next time you load that scene). Changing a "default scene rendertarget" setting will NOT change any of the view specific rendertargets - they are all independent. There is an option to delete the view specific rendertarget (so that view will then revert back to the scene rendertarget).

Batch rendering of all view would be implemented sometime after the above.

I think that should address your needs?

Hi Paul,
I am trying to make and connect rendertargets to views/viewmaps,
but I cannot get the hang of it.
Can you describe the workflow i have to follow,
maybe I am missing the point.

Hi Jeroen

I suspect the above msg is now fixed in the latest version.

For saving a rendertarget to a view, open the plugin, doubleclick an ArchiCAD view, then you can save that rendertarget to that view with the Setting "Addition Options" command "Save Rendertarget To View". Once you do this, you will see the View name in the root tree item of the rendertarget (ie "default rendertarget [rendertarget]" becomes "Generic Perspective [rendertarget]".

So now, in that ArchiCAD scene, when you activate any View called "Generic Perspective" you will be working with that separate copy of the rendertarget. If you then select a View you haven't saved a rendertarget for, it will go back to using the default rendertarget.

When you do a photorender, you can now select the View to use for the photorender in the Document->Creative Imaging ->Photorender Settings (however I just noticed it's not working - but it will be with the next upload).
