Some question before buy a graphic card and octane software...



how much different in % performance, between gtx 470 or 480 (1280/1536 ram)?.... and more between 260/285 from 470/480? ... Prices are different but if performances are 200% or 400% ore more (I don't know) might be a good investment...

And another question please:

My graphic card now is a Quadro fx 1500 (nocuda) and... May I use 2 graphics cards for differnt applications?
Quadro when modeling in 3dsmax and cuda when render with ocante?

Anymore, this moder graphics cards are compatible with my system?

mb: asus k8n-dl
cpu: 2 amd opteron dual core 2ghz
4gb ram
so: xp64bit

Hi,

We'd recommend a GTX480, because it has 1,5GB ram, and you need as much video ram as possible to make decent renderings.
And yes, you can combine it with a quadro for display.

you will have to see if you're motherboard has 2 PCI-E x16 slots for 2 GPUs with your manufacturer.

I do not an hardware expert... just ask before to buy octane...
I know my workstation is "old" but know I have no money to change ALL pc...
