Hi to All.
As the post title you can guess the discussion.
Work mainly in the ArchViz, and still my biggest weakness is the vegetation.
Until now I have always experienced, sometimes cheated, other times .. masterfully hidden, and there's always photoshop, our beloved companion battles.
And until now I went well .. :)
But I'd like to make a quantum leap, to fill this gap.
Unfortunately, time is always short (I think the main problem of all!), Not familiar with ICE and I have NEVER understood the complicated mechanism that uses Octane and its instances. Or rather, the use, but "manually".
I'd like to know which method you usually use, and if you have any advice for me with which to start.

Tnx in advance

Hum, dont really know what you mean.. But you can easily use "scatter tools" https://vimeo.com/36612233 without knowing much ICE, and then just plug your tree or whatever into particle instance shape.

OR you can look at Face video, showing "Octane scatter" node, and export it as a .csv file into Octane.

If you have any specific questions, please write them, and we can try to answer.. But right now I dont really know what you want to do :)

Hi Peter!
The system of Milan Vask is wonderful, and I knew him, but you can convert all these instances by Ice in Octane?
For me the system scatter Octane was very complicated.
You have the opportunity to show me the video of Face you are referring to export to csv?
Thank you so much!

Thanks for your report Peter.
I'll try to start with the tests.
Very kind of you!

Hi Peter, your advice has been really very valuable.
Thanks also to Milan Vasek and his wonderful work.
Now, however, I encountered some problems.
In the render phase with octane, I find myself instances reversed the plane on which support it.
Below is the screen shot of the scene of the single object in octane and immediately after the error on the node scatter.
Do you have any idea about how it is that gives me this error?

I used in this case the technique of Scatter At Nulls. >> http://vimeo.com/38683804

Seams Softimage 2010/11 is different than 2013.
To use a negative y scale should solve the problem.
You can also scale the x or z, don´t know if all axes are inverted...

In the search field from the ice-tree, type "set data".
Move the "Set Data" node in the tree. The node is now red.
Double click the node und you will get a PPG where you can type in "self.scale" in the "Reference" field.
You can now set for each axis a value, should be 1, -1, 1.
Plug this node in the green IceTree, after the "Scatter Hub".
That´s all.
