Again someone want to control fresnel :mrgreen:
why would you want to control fresnel ?
it does'nt really make much use, fresnel is physically correct,
if you change it you don't have realism anymore...

i'm also not sure what is meant with:

"Light wrapping: when the object is absorbed by light, the edge tends to be eroded away, wrapped by the light."

please explain :)

I believe the term is referred to as "photometric burnout", or at least that's what the DOF Pro plugin developers call it:

@jipe, yes, that's what I meant.

@Radiance,
1. Is that possible to achieve "photometric burnout" (light wrap) in current Octane, or will be included in your todo list?

Also, I mentioned is the other earlier post about the capability to do long exposure motion blur,
e.g. long exposure of a dancer dancing. You mentioned it was achievable, but the beta 1.2.1 manual
describes the camera uses two frames to calculate the motion blur of the camera movement itself.
2. So in that case it is a different motion blur feature then?
In that case, is there a plan to do the object's motion blur (in addition to the camera's) in the next release?

3. regrading the area light, can it be applied with texture as well, especially sequential texture files?

Thanks

Hi,

object motion blur requires instances which we don't have support for yet,
those are scheduled for beta3.

i'm also not aware of any reference papers to develop the photometric burnout effect...
area lights should be texturable like any other material channel, but again those are for beta3.
