On the site of Marvelous Designer, a software to make clothes, I discovered this amazing video :

Hmm not bad. I noticed the animation got a bit repetitive to view though. Perhaps if it had music it wouldn't be as noticeable.
One last runway gig for motion capture purposes and I suppose all models will be out of a job.
Wonder how cost effective this is? Maybe if you are using software for design and then pattern making and cutting its just another logical step in automation.
Perhaps if you have to review a whole collection of clothes for buying purposes and remotely it would be quite useful. Probably you still would want to see the real items you were interested in though.
I suppose you could call up a specific item again for a close inspection/render/walk around. Another reason to have rudimentary camera animation inside Octane say in this case for a spiral around the item of clothing you wanted to inspect. Sounds like someone might be interested in integrating Octane into some clothing application in the future. Might be quite lucrative.
I guess the next step would be for Joe Public to have their own scanned mesh and mocap of themselves to drop into a virtual store and try things on . You could order clothes tailor made specifically to your size or colour combination. With the help of an online gpu render farm Octane or Brigade could be very useful.
Its an application I wouldn't have thought of myself.
Thanks for sharing Roubal
