+1 for me
I would be glad to have Octane directly inside my Rhino viewports.

At the moment I prefer Vray because I don't need to go out of the modelling workspace.

PLZ!!!

I Know that McNeel it's very open mind about 3rd developer, have you asked them?

I use Rhino every day.
I installed the Arion plugin. It's cool but crashes very often.
I think that is not a problem related to the Rhino porting but in the Arion kernel.
Arion kernel is buggy since the first release. I have the license of Arion standalone and Live.
Unfortunately Random Control has not anymore a forum where the users can post issues and bugs.
We, Octane users, are several hundreds and we can suggest improvements and Otoy programmers listen to us.
The Otoy community is big and I will be the first user that will buy Octane for Rhino.

Otoy has to search for a Rhino plugin developer. Today many architects are using Rhino, not Autocad.

I do not know if you guys know the FMX 2013. It is a convention, which was last week in germany. Many well known 3d artists were there, showed new techniques, what the future will bring and many workshops were there too.

In one of those workshops, a guy showed a statistic of different 3d modelling apps. Some are growing, some are falling.

Biggest growing user groups: 1: Luxology Modo
2: McNeel Rhino
3: Maxxon Cinema 4D

Decreasing user groups: 1: Smith Micro Software Poser
2: Blender
3: Graphisoft ArchiCAD

The rest like 3DS Max, AutoCAD, Maya, and so on are pretty steady at the moment, but modo has +38% and Rhino +36%.

Modo - no live plugin.
Rhino - no live plugin.

Otoy - Octane. I thing your business plan is a littttttttttttle bit weird :-P Nothing more to say i think :-)

I am also a potential day 1 buyer for Modo and Rhino Plugin. Beter Tester too if you want one.

Regards Chris!

Face i really don´t know - sorry! I wasn´t at the FMX either. I wish i would have had the time. This are just news i got from friends that visited the FMX, and they are Rhino and Cinema 4D and Poser users.

These Numbers don´t mean that Poser or DAZ, or anything else, will die soon - last time i saw a statistic like this, autodesk max and Poser were the clear winner. This numbers surely change often in a year. I just had to laugh when they told me. The 2 biggest growing user groups in 2013 and the only 2 where are no live plugins are available. In my opinion, thats strange!

Yes, but 38% growth if you have 1000 users is quite different to 38% growth if you have 100,000 users. The total userbase is the important statistic I think. I did a little research on total user numbers of the various 3d app some time back and the only conclusion I came to was that I don't think anyone knows (except the tax dept).

This is absolutely true. I dont think anybody knows the exact numbers! But its obviously, when i look arround in the cg industry here in my country, that the rhino and modo user group is growing fast. 2 Years ago everybody said.....THE ONE AND ONLY 3DS MAX....now 2 Years later....But to ignore Rhino user group would be a mistake i think. I do not say, that Octane ignore´s Rhino users, but it would be nice to see that the Team is behind it - telling us that they are on it and what plans they have.

If you consider the fact that Modo's user group is especially fast growing because it now belongs to the foundry it shows that Rhino is probably no.1 in increasing its user group if you summ up the last 10 years. But that is only a guess made from experience.
