This has probably been covered elsewhere but I'll ask anyway... I understand that some technologies are shared between the two apps but after the recent GDC presentations, it begs the question, what is the current roadmap for Octane vs Brigade? The main question is, will they converge into the one application at some stage or will they remain will two different apps aimed at different markets.

While we continue to cross-pollinate code and ideas between both frameworks, we're not planning on merging them together at this point - Octane is the best GPU path tracer for artists and Brigade is the best GPU path tracing engine for games. We don't want to compromise either one by forcing them together into a single framework.
In the second GTC 2013 presentation (which will go online in a few weeks according to NVIDIA), we touch briefly on the roadmap for how both will inter-operate together more closely in the near future. While Octane will continue to be the art pipeline that artists leverage for final rendering, it will also become the tool for developing assets for real time games that Brigade can render at 60 Hz inside it's own engine.

Hi Goldorak
Please don't take this the wrong way but Brigade seems lightning fast compared to octane render. From the recent demo, by many magnitudes it seems. I know that there are big differences in the engines and capabilities, but Brigades PT seems like its running 100 GPUS when compared. The recent indoor scene demoed in Brigade was getting noiseless in a second, where Octane would take minutes or hours to reach similar results. I guess it doesn't need to be said that this potential speed-up would be huge for users.
So I guess my question is, can you not incorporate the Brigade engine as an option for Octane users (like we have diffuse, PMC, PT at the mo), For those which want the huge speed, and can live with the compromises it currently has? We all use AO with with some compromises, but Brigade PT is still much faster than AO.
I know Brigade doesn't do SSS or blurry reflections at the moment, but even with those limitations I think it would have its uses for many on here.
Or alternatively do you see parts of Brigades code that Octane could mimic to get a greater speed-up?

I agree, insert Brigate render in octane like Direct Lighting, Path Tracing, PMC, Deep Channel Kernel
So anyone can choose what to use.

Brigade is optimized for low latency. It doesn't render faster, especially not if you would integrate the material system of Octane. And it doesn't scale well in multi-GPU setups (because it's optimized for low latency). And software is not LEGO - you can't just take some program and plug it into another completely different framework - especially not in GPGPU land.
Cheers,

Feature request!
Make a GPGPU Land like Lego Land amusement park so I can give you more of my money!

so a idea is create a new pack for otoy (ex. Octane Render World) Octane render +
and a version of brigate with a similar octane interface with a different price

Octane interface is very user-friendly

Brigade is meant to be a game engine. Not a renderer like Octane.
It's like comparing RenderMan (Rasteriser) to any game engine (Rasteriser too).
It's not because it's using the same method of rendering that it is the same thing & purpose.
Octane's main purpose is rendering CGI images/animations in a photo-realistic way, final quality matters on Octane, it needs to be as accurate as possible.
Brigade's main purpose is to allow game developers to use path tracing at a real-time playable frame rate to avoid using rasteriser tricks while having all the path tracing goodness by using some specific techniques.
It's 2 different projects & like Abstrax said; you can't mix things like this. It's not a big cauldron where you put random stuff & boom it magically is done.

i'm sorry if repeat the concept ... i dont talk about a mix of 2 software octane + brigate
but sell 2 software separate in a pack: octane and brigate. A version of brigate with the similar interface of octane (ONLY interface) and a interesting developed of plugin (like to have octane)
about a logic marketing otoy can dont sell brigate alone but only with octane together ... (pack) or sell it if a guy have a licence of octane.
but if otoy don't want sell brigate as software render ..... I surrender.
