Hi,

Could you advise..

I have one gtx570 card and I would like to buy new one to add some power to octane and render on 2 graphic cards in the same time. Unfortunately I have only one graphic card slot..... What are my options?? Also I have second PC available (with only one PCe slot as well) if there is a way to connect them together and make small octane render farm.

Could you help please?

Hi,

There isn't much you can do if you only have one PCIe x16 slot on your motherboard.
There are external GPU boxes that have a mainboard in them that takes multiple cards, and this box will interface with your PC via a singe PCIe x16 slot of your PC. But they are expensive, so much so that you are better off upgrading your motherboard.

At this stage there is no way to connected network slaves to render with octane. This kind of thing for standalone will need to wait until after the cloud services are up and running.

If you are doing an animation then it's possible to render on both machines by splitting the job up. (both machines would need to be fully licensed).

Depending on how old your machine is etc, you may just be able to swap out the motherboard for one with more GPU slots, to avoid an entire upgrade.

Thanks
Chris.

Thanks Chris for your reply. Really appreciate your help. I don't have much money available in my budget so I think I'll need to have a look for new motherboard.... Thanks again.

Thanks
