Looking for help with Skin Shader

I'm trying to set up a good skin shader.

I was looking at this one http://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=28015 and cannot get it to behave anything like shown here.

Also, was looking at this shot... http://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=28015 which is rendered in octane and am gobsmacked at the quality of these.

When I've seen other skin set ups in for example mental ray, it has a diffuse, dermal and subdermal map. Is this how these are set up. I am actaully trying this in both LW and Standalone but does anyone have a model, with the shader and images set up that I can pick apart, or can anyone give me some pointers as I'm going mental here.

btw, otoy if you're listening - loving this renderer.

Hi, i´ve made some tests with SSS and DAZ3D in this thread and posted the material in the online material database.
My result is a material without SSS but just have a look:

By the online database do you mean LiveDB in Octane, or is there another one?
