beta2 worked properly.
I have reinstalled the CUDA toolkit 3, reinstalled drivers devdriver_3.0_linux_64_195.36.15.run and still same thing happening (already had installed these versions).
Confirming this issue on Ubuntu 9.10. Beta 2 also worked perfectly here. Error message received:

I have been meaning to post this issue before but its become esp annoying with this latest build...
The issue is with the transparent Device Manager and now Turntable and Sunlight Output etc flickering badly at approx 1-2 per sec where they overlap the render viewport...or I suppose its really to do with the viewport refresh showing through the popups or conflicting...
The same flickering occurs in the drop shadows from the drop down menu and tooltips in the top menu bar and the vertical inspector icons where they overlap the viewport -
Perhaps we could have an option to turn off the effects? ie shadow+transparency

ps sorry to edit this so many times in trying to describe the problem correctly ;)

Confirming the above same error on Fedora 11 with driver version 195.36.15.

Hi Radiance, about the scale problem.
I have test it in another mesh. This one was one of the meshes I tested the demo with. I could scale materials, but I didn't used the float2 (basically cause I didn't know what it was for at the time). Now I've used an image in the difusse channel, when I change the float scale, it works, even though it only scales the y axis, if I add a float2 to scale, like I said, the x shows a value of 1 and the y of 0,1, when I try to change the y value it crashes, the same goes if the image is a floatimage or if it is on another channel.
By the way, I have stress test my gpu with a nice project I'm working on and WOW, it looks great, I got to put a lot of work on it yet, but, Octane is great, I'm looking foward to some type of instances support, cause It would help a lot, but even now I think I will use it in one of my projects, (If they don't look too bad , I'll post them once finished, I don't want people to judge your great work by my crappy renders) ;)
Plus the bump map got me impressed, it looks real enough for me, without the need of displacement for now.

Hi,

Great. I am really impressed with the new beta. Works great on my 8800GT and Windows XP, less fireflies, and now I can change resolution with bo problems!

Octane's fantastic, and support for customers awesome too!

*to all linux users*

I will have a look and make another build for linux later today and post it here.
we ran some tests on an opensuse 11 system with a 8800GTX card and it worked, but obviously something went wrong.

good thing this is release candidate and not a release :)

Hi,

First of all, the scale parameter is a float param, it's not supposed to work with a float2 node. (at this time)
i'll investigate it, but it seems to work correctly, i think you need to UV map your objects propperly.
