As a new user absolutely loving Octane and finding my way slowly round node based rendering and materials set-up I'm often using the Live DB to see how stuff has been put together and then trying my own versions. Thanks to all that have shared their materials, it's a great help.
I've noticed a couple of things.
1) People have uploaded stuff into "misc" when there's a category already there for it (e.g. Glass or Metal or Stone) - could the Live DB be tidied up at some point so everything is where it should be?
2) It would save loads of time if it was searchable.
Obviously, not the highest priority but a well-regimented materials database would be good for all going forward I think.
TIA
Request: Live Materials DB tidy-up

Here is another idea: Incentivize the Live DB -- users who make wonderful, professional
and unique materials - that are given positive feedback by other users - are rewarded
with free Octane Cloud Render time...
Edit: hey, this is such a good idea (imho) that I am going to start a new thread..

Win10Pro || GA-X99-SOC-Champion || i7 5820k w/ H60 || 32GB DDR4 || 3x EVGA RTX 2070 Super Hybrid || EVGA Supernova G2 1300W || Tt Core X9 || LightWave Plug (v4 for old gigs) || Blender E-Cycles
+1 on both - also a search feature would come in handy - searching for defaults like water, cloth etc.. needs tags obviously

also, many of the materials are out dated and were created with versions of Octane that worked differently. So some of the materials wont give the same results as they used to.

I believe its an option when you save a material macromanalokos wrote:I would vote for a Local DB that could be shared. I still have no idea how to add stuff to the live DB...

On my system, the Location field of the Store Node window doesn't show " Live DB " as shown on page 111 of the 1.0 manual. Clicking on up and down little arrows doesn't change anything.
I have just made a simple Raspberry-SSS material, but I am not able to send the macro to the live DB.
