It really sounded like this was coming last week...
I don't mean to be impatient - but there are so many goodies coming in the next release candidate...
Between this and LW plug, I am practically climbing the walls.
Daylight Sun Size/Soft Shadows is top on my list. Please tell me we are still getting this..
(edit: after some deliberation, I've decided that Background Image and Primary Visibility is more important
than Sun Size.. read on)
New Release Candidate coming this week?...

We found quite a few issues during the last week and there is still one thing that needs to be sorted out. We will release as soon as possible. I hope it will be this week, but I can't guarantee.FrankPooleFloating wrote:It really sounded like this was coming last week...

There are no changes to the daylight system regarding the sun size yet.
Cheers,

fingers crossed - primary visibility on/off is being worked on? 3D architecture really needs this - could you give us a clue please?

No it's currently not worked on. There were enough other things on our plate the last months. I think we will have a look at it soon though.jmfowler wrote:fingers crossed - primary visibility on/off is being worked on? 3D architecture really needs this - could you give us a clue please?

May I ask why it's so important?

Primary visibility (or invisible to camera etc) is very, very important to those
of us that do a lot of compositing. Only some of the time, am I, myself, just
rendering everything as a whole and not adding stuff in PS.
But just being able to have objects cast shadows, be reflected, or light other
stuff - without being seen - really brings so much to the table, when attacking
the challenges that we run into when rendering stuff that is to be composited.
I am trying to remember if Lightwave, for instance, was ever without this feature......
Please do what you can to get this, background image and undo into works.

Could you give an example? I'm still trying to get my head around what is actually needed and how we can integrate this into Octane (especially into its UI...). Zuvakas sent me a detailed explanation of what he needs a while ago, but it was a bit more than just visibility. He needed a shadow pass, you probably need also a reflection pass and so on. So it doesn't seem that only visibility is missing, does it?FrankPooleFloating wrote:Primary visibility (or invisible to camera etc) is very, very important to those
