for 4000€ you get the power of 4 Teslas K20x istead of 10.000€

for pro Octane, Vray, Live, iRay users this is a must

two weeks ago I purchased a new quad GTX680 4GB rig and I'm really happy. I'm rendering a animation with 100 textures that surpass 580GTX 3GB, 64 textures limit.

With one Titan we can elaborate heavy scenes with more than 224 textures.

Otoy team, please, optimize the code for Titan!

from what's already written it will not be limmited edition =) though the price tag is high enough, nVidia is looking forward to sell a lot of those (for not so clearly understandable reason =p whatever..sodon't worry about availability, but more about cash You need =)

I think I should wait for real 780 gtx instead. 690 and Titan equal price, but 690 more processors and faster.

Am I wrong?

What about vram? If the titan has loads of it thats a big plus, but to wait a bit can not be wrong unless you need it to fulfill a job.

690 on paper should be faster, but it has Only 2gb of vRam per GPU when Titan has 6gb =)..
so it depends what is more important to You..speed or available space for complex scenes.

on the other hand, here's the design desition - titan exhaus hot air from the back of the card,
leaving the case in normal temps, pluss it makes less noise.

cheers

I wonder if the next generation of consumer cards also will have 6GB vram because of this 4k gaming stuff.
Even for my smaller projects I could use some more processing power but 2GB per GPU like the 690 is definitly not enought to get anything done.

That is a moot point, as neither of us needs K20x.
I am not really impressed with the fact, the thing is 2x more expensive than its predecessors. GTX 8800, 280/285, then 480/580....all of them for about 500 EUROs...but Titan for some reason, 1000...
Accept it and be prepared to shell that much money from now on for every upcoming generation.

But obviously, 6GB of VRAM is good and if you really need those, its a no brainer.
