Hey, just a quick question, does it matter what version of standalone octane do I have as long as I use 3ds max octane plugin?
or for better performance it's better to have latest octane standalone?

the plugin uses it's own octane engine (which is not necessarily the same version like the standalone)...

Then why we need to buy standalone in order to get Max plugin?t_3 wrote: short answer: no.

I don't even use standalone. Is it because some licensing system you don't have working for plugins or?

I also uninstalled stand-alone months ago. Must be nearly a year now...

a plugin is only available as an additional license together with octane. that you don't need to install (or use) the standalone to use the plugin is more a technical aspect. also every integrated plugin will require it's own license. and because of that system octane's base price is a steal, and even if you buy two or three additional plugins you still pay much less than for other engines...suvakas wrote:Then why we need to buy standalone in order to get Max plugin?t_3 wrote: short answer: no.
