Coming from a photographic background the thing I'm really missing so far is a histogram to show the distribution of tones in the image viewer as it renders. Mainly to ensure I'm not clipping values at the highlight end. I'm used to using a histogram to adjust my camera exposure values and it would be great to see one in Octane.
My current workaround is to take a snapshot to the clipboard, open that in PS and check the histogram then come back to Octane and adjust camera settings, repeat until right....!

hi, i have already asked for this feature some time ago but none was interested, good to know that there is someone else that need this, it would be the perfect gift for the camera imager node, so +1

Hi Beppe,
Yep it's pretty important if you are going to colour grade the image in post! I work with lots of photographic textures so I need to know I'm not rendering out 255 RGB in any one channel else I have nowhere to go in post to recover that lost data.
It's a visual reassurance thing and something that, as a photographer first and foremost, I use on a daily basis from the back of the camera, through my RAW software into PS and beyond.
Adding it to the Camera Node would be ideal (and where it would most normally be).

in general I would also love to see more control of adjusting the colors of the float image.
That means having specific controls for the black and white portions of the color information, improving shadow areas and bright skys and so on...

+1 for the live histogram while rendering. I really miss that from real photo cameras.

I would love one tooo! I can't tell if I'm blowing out my highlights
I'm going to resurrect this thread
Is there any histogram clipping view functionality in the current 2020.2 products? I'd love to be able to see these details before I export, especially to dial in my highlights without blowing them over. I'd love to hear any other tricks as work-arounds as well if this feature is not implemented.
Thanks!
Travis
