I don't want to be forced to pay for their renderfarm service, and I think I'm gonna flip if there's no option to do an offline renderfarm for DR. That would be just plain greedy

I agree and I was slightly tricked into buying Octane. During their beta they said that their would be a blender plugin for it. Sadly they removed it and the future was unsure. A mod recently said that a Developer was found for it and so hopefully they will start working on it. Once they have a plugin for blender for integration than Octane will be a very good option if someone does not wish to use Cycles. That being said can a mod actually confirm that their is something being worked on now? And if there will be a beta for the plugin in a few months or something?

I am happy with Octane so far (although haven't been able to use it a lot) and despite feeling a little bit tricked into buying it expecting a blender plugin, the price was fairly set and I enjoy the overall quality of the renders it produces. I have a few projects I wish to use with it soon so hopefully I'll get my money's worth from it.
well... even the Rhino plugin plugin logo has gone and I remember it was there initially...and that's it's a shame, I'm still confident to get an integration in Rhino 5 soon as the only real big lack for this amazing modelling software always been the render engine, I stick to what I get here and so far it has been fine but no news about it is always no good.

I don't know how many of us here have experience rendering with both Cycles and Octane. I use Cycles on a regular basis and Octane at times. I must say that Octane is hell LOT faster than Cycles!! Now you may ask why use Cycles than Octane. Because I did not spend quality time learning Octane and also because I'm using Blender for like more than a year now and Cycles felt home. Anyways I'm going to start learning Octane right way!!!

The "Octane for Rhino" was the reason I used octane.
Now we are missing information about the development.
Octane for Rhino is the perfect match. Could it be that Autodesk is not happy with Rhino?

I think the SDK is open for everyone who has the intention to write a plugin.

Yes - I doubt there is any conspiracy theory about Autodesk and Rhino. It think it's more a case of no developer coming forward that is will to embark on the plugin.

Correct,
that´s why we have more non Autodesk integrated plugins like Lightwave, Blender, Cinema, ArchiCad, Poser and DAZ...

No the silence is, because we said it already dozens of times and it gets a bit boring to repeat it again and again and again: We don't have the resources and knowledge to implement integrated plugins for the various 3D packages and rely heavily on third-party developers. Until now, we couldn't find one for Rhino. That's all. If you wanna do it or know someone, feel free to contact us and we can get the development started.

Cheers,
Marcus
