2) Create a Diffuse material
3) Set the transmission to 1
4) In the Medium slot, hook up a Scattering node
5) Play a bit with Absorption, Scattering and Scale values
6) Adjust the diffuse color accordingly with your Scattering settings
For best result, make sure your object has some thickness, avoid to apply SSS on flat polygons
