Hi guys,
not too much time ago I wrote (I wasn't the only one) about the "instability" of the renderer with the message "warning render failed".
Yesterday I switched the cable of the monitor from a videocard to the other (I have two gtx580)...that's all!
since now I made lot of different tests at different resolution and kernel type and all goes ok!.

I wrote this post because in the old one no solution seemd to be given...maybe this could be helpful for someone else :D

Cheers, Paolo

I wish this worked for me, but no luck.
I think its something in my scene thats causing the "render fail" error.
Something I've un-hid, its an old scene that I'm converting over to Octane.

The thing with this crash, I have to restart 3dsmax to get Octane working again.

i have the same error, having two gtx 580 too, i think maybe the cards are overheating?, could it be possible??, i use a small utility called GPUtemp and i costantly check that.. and the thing normally when you use your octane window, the gpu normally dont stop processing while you are working, you know what i mean?, its just a theory... good luck guys!

what happened to me was nearly impossible to "categorize"....sometimes the render failed without doing nothing (even with big resolution renders or with small...sometimes after just 2minutes or after 10/15min.), some other time simply tweaking with random parameters (hot-pixel removal, ISO, aperture...etc).

Till the day that I switched the monitor plug (to one card to the other), the rendering error occourred again only few times (after nearly a 100 tests done).

Don't know the reason, but the fact is that for me this solution works...hope that can be the same for other user ;)

I only get this error when one of my GPU's runs out of memory.
Are you guys sure it's not happening in your case too?

Whenever I've encountered this issue, I just close any other program that I may have open. With only Octane running, problem solved.
