Octane is really starting to come along as a full fledged production render...with one gaping hole, motion blur.

Any idea when we might see this come onto existence ?

Thanks

Turning off alpha generation for different models is much needed too.

I'm about to start a commercial animation ptoject and i'm already worried how i'm going to do the post work.
Probably have to render twice. Beauty pass with Octane and then switch to some other renderer for render passes. BUT this may cause AA issues cause the renderers are different.
Atm Octane is for archi viz mostly and not animation oriented. I hope this changes over time.
Actually I'm not very sure if developers even understand why we need all those different render passes. The common answer from them to such questions is "Octane is not a compositing tool". This answer makes no sence and has got me thinking that maybe they don't fully understand what post work means and that having different render passes support in render engine doesn't mean the engine does the post work.

I have to get motion vector pass from Vray or Default max. Run it though reelsmart motion vector blur . AA edges can be lessened by eroding or dilating the affected areas.
Sub frame motion blur workaround in Octane is just too slow.

I have Arion maxlive and the true 3d motion blur is awesome. Wish Octane would implement this soon.
I really hate the workflow of Arion.

Dont know what kind of animation you will produce but try to use revisionFX reelsmart MotionBlur for AE.Its not good as 3D motion blur but it may help till otoy make it work in octane.
