Im going to buy my second Gainward Gtx 580 Phantom 3gb card, and wondering which or how big my PSU should be.
Currently i have an Corsair 750 W.

Any one with info on that?

should be enough if You don't do any OCing & Your cards are not factory OCed =)..
(as there are different skus) /// Your system with ref cards should draw ~700W

overclocking GPU is not advised so much when You putting those under constant preasure,
on the other hand why to buy unlocked CPU if You're not squeezing extra out of it? =)..

last but not least PSU is the most overlooked part in modern PC - especially in powerPC..
why? well..draw simple sketch: You can't have strong building without good foundation..

get the idea? =)..

cheers

p.s. how much amps does Your PSU have & what are exact models of GPU You're looking to use.
what are the additional stuff You've into Your system & what about OC, have You tweeked anything?

Hi, 750W is the power provided for two big GPU in the Cubix Xpander Pro 2. In mine, I have two EVGA GTX 580 3GB. So I think that in a modern computer with the same two cards, to keep some safety margin in peek current and allow the feeding of some peripherals, a 1000W Monorail PSU would be a minimum. I would prefer 1200W.

I have two of your Gainwards Phantom and all runs nice with a 750W PSU. I can even render with iray using my X980 Intel too without a blackout. :)

Considering to sell my two 580GTX. Whats the market price for it? Any ideas?

market price is low, 'cos 680 gives a lot of power in games..easily outperforming 580 & in some cases going head to head with 590.. so expect significant drop..unless You could sell those directly to power users through forums like this. as it's probably the fastest single gpu card for Octaners, I assume some of them would be willing to pay good price =)

p.s. mind if I ask what are You going for after? =)

No idea. Maybe three 680 but would be same power like my two 580.... Hard to decide at the moment. Guess I wait until spring and see what around the corner then.

I decided to go for 1 Evga gtx 670 4gb(maybe another one later on), the price is right, less power use and a lot of CUDA cores :)
- and its impossible to find any phantom gtx 580 3gbs...

a lot more cuda cores doesn't matter, 670 will be slower =).. but Yes it uses less power, can handle more textures, pluss You get 1gb extra of vRam..

Why is it exactly that 670 is slower than 580?
Is it the way Octane is programmed or...?

580 is based on Fermi architecture, while 680 on Kepler. Differences in architecture..
