is there anyway the new Kepler cards will ever be able to out perform the old Fermi cards?

can i be optimistic in thinking that in up and coming updates we will have a version of octane that can fully utilize the (so-called) strength of the 6X cards?

or is that just the way it is?

Sorry, but it's just the way it is. As discussed before, they are designed to have good gaming performance which is why they lack a bit in the GPGPU department. Without major changes in our render code, I don't think we can improve things significantly. And at the moment we don't have time and resources to completely overhaul the render algorithms.

As far as I know, NVIDIA plans to update the Kepler platform this year. Let's see how they will go.

Cheers,
Marcus

That, and you have twice the texture limits and another 500MB VRAM to play with!

Thanks
Chris.
