I also was wondering if the plugin is compatible with Quadro 5000?

Sorry, I was meaning that the standalone version you are using does not have importance sampling anyway so this cannot be the difference.

For the ground plane for this may be quite important for reducing noise on the car to make this the same as the standalone, i would add this in and see what happens.

Also, check the gamma/brightness/contrast (i'm not sure what controls you have over this in Maya) of the HRDI background. In the standalone this looks a little less contrasted which may be helping.

Hi Chris,

But I still couldn't manage to make the plugin work properly in maya 2013, the plugin needs to be improved to be more compatible with Maya HDR.
Any new updates or patches in near time?

If you're using 32 bit HDRIs (exr, hdr), make sure you set the gamma of the octaneimagetexture to 1 instead of the default 2.2. It will clean a LOT of the noise very fast. You can validate that you are in the right gamma value by checking "keep environment" in the render settings and make a quick render of the hdr in your viewport. (I'll post this into your other thread too for the search function of the forum).

Amazing...but that really worked,I went further and reduced the gamma down to 0.5. I balanced the hdr texture power as well and it looks a lot better now. I will post the new images next week because my graphical tablet suddenly gave up working properly.Thanks for the tip again, RickToxik.

I have no problem with the noise now, but still there are lot of things I need to tune.
