Sad, Sad...have really been looking forward to it. I will still keep some hope tho!
I do know that the plugin is anything but dead :) Writing software takes time, and writing good software well takes even more. Have a little more patience & I'm sure we will all be rewarded with a very nice new tool! I can't wait to see what t_3 has in store for us when everything is finally done.

Yeah I hear ya elwisoroarke, ...was just curious as to why there hasn't been any kind of contact from anyone since it seemed so close to being done. I am fine waiting on it for however long it takes them to complete it cause it will be an amazing tool to have. All being said, I more importantly hope he is ok and all is good in his life cause nothing really more important than that! Take care

Yes Sam (RayTracey) is alive, but he is not the one creating the plugin. T_3 is the plugin developer, and I am sure he is working hard to bring DAZ Studio users the best Octane integration tool possible.

Ah - Is he still alive then?

The thing that causes all the speculation is no one from the octane team even saying anything in the forum. Even pre-release a plugin like this deserves a bit of support from the team. All that is needed is someone dropping in to squash speculation and give a simple update.

Makes people worry about post release support. A big concern of mine frankly.

The Daz plug-in is still in closed beta but there has been some great progress lately. In fact, there was a very important update just yesterday. I expect it to be ready for open beta very soon.

hi all!

i aplogize for a few weeks lack of updates, but i needed to cut my phone and internet lines, to focus on resolving some show stopper instabilities. as raytracey already told you we had a major update to the closed beta last weekend (the first one in two months btw), and it looks good so far. 'am now pushing fixes every 2-3 days until done. no more big scale changes like we had in the past months (like the new geometry system, engine updates to current octane release state, etc.), just resolving ~smaller issues.

@shigman: the release will be a beta release. the closed beta is in place to guarantee some quality standards before releasing a public beta that will be in fact sold. you most probably won't appreciate it, if the plugin crashes ds once a day. not saying that there will be no crashes at all, but it is far less likely after being pushed by the testers of the closed beta.

@larsmidnatt: if you look at my badge, it also says "octanerender team", so saying no one of the team ever posts her is not exactly right :) btw, this means, even if i'm a 3rd party dev, there are contracts between me and otoy, so it is not just up to my state of mind to drop this or drop support or sthg. like that. means there are responsibilities i agreed to, and also that otoy can take over the project if i die in a plane crash (what i have definitely not planned to do ;))

so regarding the current development state, i'd say the sun is rising, slowly, but rising... just like that:

I've seen your badge for a few months already! It's good to know progress has been made and I'm glad we finally got a few replies. I never said no one ever posts, but if I really need to be more clear then I will be.

The thing that causes all the speculation is no one from the octane team was saying anything in response to the recent questions in the forum. Even pre-release a plugin like this deserves a bit of support from the team. All that is needed is someone dropping in to squash speculation and give a simple update (not necessarily t_3). In this world, a month is a long time.

As a customer that only purchased Octane for the DS plugin, this makes me worry about post release support.

Don't take it the wrong way, I hope this clarifies what I intended originally. The updated information, such as knowing there will be a paid beta is good to know. Some of us wondered why Poser got a paid beta while DS did not. now that we know the state of things we can be at peace for a week or two.
