I find this plug in to be not very stable. I have had many crashes and problems with this since I loaded the updated version. Now it does not even show up in the Poser window, or load upon starting Poser.
What is up with this thing?
Nothing has changed on my system since I installed the plug in. I hope Otoy can iron out the bugs in this software before the 2.0 version comes out.
I have an HP Paviliion Elite with 32 GB of Ram and an i7 Quad core with a GTX650Ti video card running Windows 8.
I'm using Poser Pro 2012 with the service pack. It should run well on this system.
I'm often having problems with the Octane plug crashing... How about you?

Zero crashes of Octane
Plugin is very stable except when you run out of memory or texture stots. In these cases the plugin may have to be restarted and the CUDA card needs to be reset. Poser has never crashed while the plugin was running.

Well, this is weird. I reloaded the plug in from a fresh download of the 1.02 version. The new file evidently correct some errors on the old install.
Now, it's working correctly and the materials window will resize and it seems to be working fine. I noticed a marked improvement.
Don't know what the problem was, but it seems that the fresh download fixed the problem. I suspect that the original download was corrupted or damaged. This new download seems to have made it work better. Now the Setup window shows the proper settings buttons, which it did not have before.
Hopefully, all of the issues with the plug in were due to corrupted files.
Therefore, if you are having issues like this with your version, then a complete reinstall may do the fix. It worked for me.
YEA HA!!

Hi Lightray
Version 1.02q-3 has an issue with the glossy "index" pin conversion from Poser Materials - which I am in the process of fixing. So give me a few hours and there should be a new version.

Also - if you ever get a crash (and hopefully you dont!) email or post the octaneplugin.log and cuda.log files so I can see what caused it. See http://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=26624 for details on accessing this log files.

Thanks Paul, I appreciate your hard work.
I have been working wtih the plug in all day, and since the revised download, I have had not issues. In fact, it's running perfectly. I have tried to post some pics, but for some reason, I can't post any photos.
I don't use the PC for my internet activities, I use my iMac.
At least the plug in is working good now and with your other fixes, it will just keep getting better.

Okay... here we go again. There still seem to be issues with this softwares stability. I have had it crash Poser during numerous renders. It did it again last night during a 300 frame animation render. When I restarted the PC and ran Octane again to continue the render, it would not show any image in the viewport. Every time I try to use this software, there are stability issues that cause problems. When I try to stop a render in progress, it's very slow to respond. Then the set up window will not allow me to change panels from the animation panel to the settings panel. I have to shut down the plug in.
I got it back up and running again, but I'm sure that it will not be able to complete the renders before it crashes again.

Do you have a single graphics card (use it for both Octane and the UI?)
What is your configuration?
I have not had a single crash in Poser related to rendering in Octane. And I am using pretty heavy scenery
