Hi there

I have set up the demo but cannot get it to work. Was hoping someone might be able to help me on what I am missing

I have Poser 9, 8 gig RAM, GSX680, 3.75 Proc, Windows 7 64Bit

I followed the install and tried both stand alone and plug in to do a test render. I have a fairly basic setting, 2 figures , dome and a cove with 2 lights.

When I try stand alone it tries to import the Wave OBJ but complains about missing or can not find just about everything. Then it renders a white/grey picture of my setting. Seems MATs are MIA?

When I use plug in I open the view port and all I see is the Octane logo an da black screen with white waves but its working hard as the system is slowed to a crawl.

I cant find where to register the demo the manual shows it bu tin the demo its not an option on the pull down, is this the issue perhaps?

thank you,

I would love to buy this but need to see it work a little bit first ;)

hi bpzen, the standalone needs to read the resulting .obj correctly and for that an intermediary exporter has to be used, blender would be a good one but this might not suit your own workflow. As for the poser plugin demo, you don't need to register it. please ensure that you have all it's files in the right places, also check on the cuda devices tab if you've ticked the checkbox for the plugin to use the 680

Cuda Devices is checked off, I don't have the tab for the octane account with the demo version, would this cause black rendered? Again its working at something but the view port is black with wavy white lines and the logo only showing.

I unzipped the install files as instructed in the user guide, put them into the dir with poser.exe etc...

I have a feeling I am missing something simple.

hi, how does your scene look like on the poser viewport, is there something lighting the scene at all, like a default IBL light? Octane need to convert a poser light source to an octane material to light the scene

Should I remove all lights from the poser view port first?

Hi

Just to let you know I've spoken with bpzen via email to resolve the issue. In case anyone else has this same question, my response was:
The sphere is blocking all the light. The best option is to use the sphere texturemap as the environemnt->"environment texture" in the "Render Option List on the "Settings" tab, AND make the sphere invisible in Poser.

I suggest watching the 3 videos listed at http://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=25983 and also check the FAQ page, which covers this exact topic.
Sorry for the late pickup on the msg.
