Hi Sam,

thanks for your fast reply!

If you see this line, then at least some version of the plug-in is loading. If you select this line, then hit the properties button, it will show the Plug-in Properties page in which you can see which version has loaded. It should be 1.022r01.02a.

...yes, this is the version I see when I click on properties.

In the toolbar in the zip file, there should be two buttons. One starts the renderer, a left click will let you choose where and what to call the exported file, right click will choose for you. The other button will let you set the options for export, including which version of Octane you want to use. Left click on this will start the OctaneOptions, which lets you set the Octane Path, the number of samples, start rendering on open, and which cards to use.

This is the point: I haven't no button of the Octane plug-in when I open Rhino v4. I have searched it inside a lot of way, but with no result...All that you write to me is very comprehensible but I haven't no way for to test what you are writing...

I hope that with Rhino v4 and Octane plug-in I can export the .obj file with all its layers (and therefore all its objects for layers).

Thanks

Garcia ;)

Ah, I see. When you downloaded the plug-in, there are two files in there, an *.rhp and a *.tb. You have loaded the rhp file correctly, but it sounds like you still need to load the tb file. With one instance of Rhino open, drag the tb file from where you unzipped it onto Rhino. This should load the toolbar file for you. Close Rhino to set the changes. Let me know if you are still having problems.

Unfortunately the export out of V4 is not very clean. This is an area that needs work. I have a few ideas how to remedy this, but work has been very busy so I haven't had much of a chance to work on it as of late. So sadly at this time, V5 is the best option for getting the output you are looking for.

Great! I have done exactly all that you have written to me and I have dragged the file *.tb in Rhino when it's open and now I have seen the toolbar...many thanks!
And this is ok....while for the layers in Octane like I have the layers in Rhino I see that I have problems when I export the *.obj...we will see in the future.

Thanks for your help

Garcia ;)

Hi All,

First post.

I was having trouble exporting, when Octane opened the .obj, it gave me an error saying it coudn't find an argument for the .obj file. I realized this was because I had spaces in the filename. Bad habit, I know, but if anyone else has this error, remove the spaces from the filename.

It worked until I installed the Neon plugin for Rhino. Now I get this message:

Neon™ for Rhino is a fully raytraced viewport plug-in for Rhino 5.0.
Here's the link for Neon:

But not able to follow through with the remedy from mcneel instruction.

Hey,

I know this Thread is kind of dead but:
I'm having problems using the renderOctane command in Rhino4 since a while. It always ends in an error-message (already an Octane window) regarding the position of the camera ( --cam-x). I guess octane changed something internally in some update.
Is anynone having similar problems and/or got a solution?

Thanks in advance!

PS: buying the new Plugin is no option because i dont want to buy Rhino5 as well :)
PPS: Rhino 4 SR9, newest Octane, newest Nvidia driver (WHQL), Win7, everything set up freshly
