1 reason! it was promised!glimpse wrote:I don't understant, why You can't use simple emiter behind Your camera to achieve almost the same efect? =)
Guys do that a lot with engines like Vray, Mental Ray, etc.. Yes, i do understand that it's not the same..as flash..
But give at least one reason why You think this feature is important?..I'm probably missing something here. =)
Suvakas, thought the same, but..maybe we are missing something very important here? =)))
P.S. First time ever, I'll give -1 =p..if it's allowed =)
2 reason! you're running 3ds max?, for the interior of the integration for me uncomfortable
Vray, Mental Ray it's all in 3ds max!
I was not comfortable material editor 3ds max

Yes, maybe it's promissed, but do You see this as something so important to push infront of any other features?
..simple white balance would make much more sense..
Yes, moving the camera and moving the emiter would be tedious, but even on standalone it's not entirelly imposible:
Copy the cornates of camera and paste into cordinates of the plane. Either way You probably need to adjust the way plane is facing, or make it bigger/smaller (to get shadows softer or sharper) pluss slight offset might be required to get shadow ofset if You trying to capture let's say white object on white background..I know that it's not comfortable, but..it an option for now..
I use both stanalone and max version =)..
Suvakas, until now there's no way to link objects in stanalone =) but it's not so difficult to work around..
P.S. just thought..couldn't the placement node(or how is it called, the one with cordinates)be used used for camera and let's say plane (call it flash if You want =)?..

flash allows you to make realistic interior without complicated settings of the interior lighting
even in direct engine
flash is required to render jewelry

Well, ok, if we have other camera effects, why not flash (especially since it's not so difficult to implement).
But I don't understand why would anyone want to ruin their renders with ugly flash effect?
Flash fits in the group of other defects (bad exposure, grain, chromatic aberration...) that makes your render more """photo real""" (cant stress enough the parenthesis here) in a very bad / ugly / cheap way.
And since nobody want to look at ugly amateurish photos, I don't see the logic behind using flash...??

Ok, maybe You made the point =) it's valid, I have to agree.
On the other hand =).. Something like flashlight from almost the possition of camera will not look as good as natural lighting or mixed one. In interior, architectural photography they avoid using small flashes..- usually it's big difusers, lightboxes, umbrelas, placed on side to get more pleasing look, without harsh shadows.. Have a bit of coloring etc. from photographers standpoint, I don't see a pro using his inbuild camera flash for architectural/interior photography..- but that's subjective personal oppinion..
Cheers
