What is the wattage of your power supply?
You may very well need a bigger one.

Hello,

As you probably already know, Mac Pro's overall wattage for all ePCI slots is 300W. You have to find out how much your card needs on the peak.
If you try to connect one cable from molex you may succed but only if your card isn't overclocked and you don't use any other ePCI slots.
But if I were you, I would start to look for some extra power.

Recently I've put FCP Booster X5 into optical bay, runs nicely with Zotac GTX470(powered from mac PSU) and Zotac GTX580 Amp!2.
Can octane on both together for hours, but with open GL benchmarks and games like Witcher2 I had to disconnect GTX470,
because two cards was too much for main PSU and cause crashes after 2 min. (GTX580 even connected to boosterX sucks 75W from mainboard)
It seems that CUDA computing needs less power than pure fun.

For me boosterX is a cleaner solution than using paperclip it's connected with main PSU via molex and runs together, without any manual switching.
But a standard ATX PSU can be a good way to go. One way or another you'll end up with cables sticking from the side of your mac :)

thank you for all those replies.. i had a call with my mac provider this morning.. he said that in first place i have to find a power cable 6 pins to 8 pins.. i'll have it tomorrow.. but the best professional and safe solution is to put money in a external device like CUBIX or CYCLONE in order to manage GPU solution...
I'll let you know tomorrow if it works.
