Great ! Wonderful ! I was waiting for that for ages ! Thanks ! I will jump on my feet until it will be released ! :D

@ Juan : It is the very desired Shadow Catcher material, allowing to capture the shadow of an object onto an unvisible material. When saving the image with transparent background it can be composited with a bacground photo with realistic shadow. A very needed feature !

Shadow catcher is useful for compositing, means that you can render your scene then composite it on AE/Photoshop/Nuke or anything you want. As it get the shadows from Octane, you can implement your model easily with fitting shadows, etc.
Good thing also shown here is that you can render directly from Octane, shadows using HDRI environment maps without doing any compositing.
So you can say good-bye to floating models around HDRI ;)

Wow! I've been waiting for this but wasn't expecting soon..

Just one question. Will the shadow catcher render the scene without the object alpha?
That would be awesome as well..

Kudos ;)

Yes, you can.

Like this for example. The model still casts shadows but is not visible in alpha.
