Hello Face.

I keep having orientation problems with this new converter version.
Everything comes upside down, I usually remediate this problem by putting a placement node before the scatter node with a 180 degree rotation on the X axis. But I can never get the exact same rotation as on softimage.

Am I doing something wrong?
Is it really fixed?

Thanks

I overwrited the existing dll and tried again with the same result, even after restarting softimage...
What could be the problem? I am using Softimage 2013 64-bit

Hello stephan

Here is a sample scene with a sphere emitting cones aligned to the surface.
Softimage scene, obj's, csv and ocs file attached

I uninstalled the Soft2octane addon, reinstalled, and replaced the dll with the updated one... it still has the wrong orientation...
Thank you

Best regards
Filipe

That´s wired.
Have tested your scene with the debug dll and it works. With the release dll, it fails.
With the Softimage 2011 SDK you set an quaternion via ( x, y, z, w ) with 2013 via (w, x, y, z ). Or vice versa...
Maybe it´s possible that different Softimage applications use also different versions. So the plugin works with 2011 but not with 2013.
Or it works with 2013 and not with 2011. Must check it.

Realy wired...
Here a version which is running with 2013.

Hello Stephan

Thank you so much, now it is working perfectly!

One more question, what is the cloud_colormap.tga file generated when the scene is exported to octane?

Best regards

When a pointcloud is exported as a single mesh without a scatter, you can use the poincloud.tga to color your particles.
The poincloud can also have 16.7mio different colors.

Got a new little problem.. Got a scene with about 1000 different (quite heavy and different objects). When I try to render them all, I get a error in Octane saying that it can't import the mesh, so I thought one or more of the objects where broken (containing 2-point polys or something). But when I tried exporting 100 objects at a time everything works fine, so my conclusion is the amount of objects is breaking something.. Face, do you want me to send the scene over? I guess you'll need a 4GB or 3GB card to really try it out (hard to tell, because Im not even close topping out the VRAM yet)..
