Hello guys,

I am just planning to buy a new computer but I am wondering what would the best choice to stay on CPU or to change to GPU. I am not Octane render user (yet) (vray, Thea) however I would like to find someone who has such experience in this speed up issue.

As regards GPU; I can afford the GTX 660 or (Ti) otherwise CPU; i7 2600K.

What do you think?

Octane doesn't run on CPU.

If You want to get performance boost in Octane =) better spend You money on older Fermi based gpu (like 580) even try to search for used one if You want to save some money. Kepler (660ti) will run bit cooler, consume less power, but..if You have enough good PSU to house 580..for Your budget it will be fastest solution =)..

P.S. For Octane CPU cores don't matter so much =) single core speed is something important though =)..keep this mind..
