hi there
first i have to say i am very impressed by your render engine technology.
Its interesting that small companies break the barrier for innovative ways
while the big ones stagnate. Keep up the good work
MY question: Is the 1.0 Version going to support Displacement and sub surface scattering?
cheers.

the overview of features currently implemented and planned for v1.0 are on the features page.
we will probably not have SSS in the v1.0 release, although there's a possibility it might, depending on demand.
displacement will be precomputed only in v1.0, but rest assured you can render complex scenes,
octane's acceleration structures are tiny, the iguana render in the gallery is rendered with displacement, 3 million+ polygons and it took only 1/3rd of the GPU memory.
render-time micropoly displacement and subsurfs are very, very hard to adapt to a GPU, so this will definately now be available in v1.0
Have fun reading specs/faq's and keep an eye out for the first demo version which will arrive in a few days.

Heya radiance, it's good to see ya kickin'!
I've a quick question for you. Do you have any plans for network enabled rendering?
Lets say I have 10 nodes with Cuda enabled graphic cards. Would it be possible to
let them work together on one image, or concerning animations, let octane spread
out frames to the nodes? ;o))
take care

"The sleeper must awaken"
Wow I'm very impressed, specially with the amount of geometry it can handle.
I was under the impression that graphics cards were going to have to up the amount of RAM they have,
well in line with system ram.
Is there a limit to the resolution ?
Will there be plugin versions for our favourite 3D app ?
Are you the same Radiance that was doing LUX render ?

First of all, congrats for this beautiful piece of software. Really impressive!!
I do have a small question: is it possible to bake textures with octane? If not, do you plan to add this feature in the future?
Thanks and keep up the good working!!

BIG CONGRATS RAD & TEAM!!!
i was hoping for this for YEARS!! having the possibility to realtime material tweak is a killer! octane looks insanely i cant wait to see demo, hope i can afford beta version for 99e but not sure if this will happen - anyway it looks like a good price for such a piece of code.
---
my question is if u guys are planning to integrate octane with blender or if one will have to export meshes and setup scene/materials only within octane studio?
will octane make use of 3way sli?
will there be a cheaper license for non-commercial/student use?
---
have a great year guys and keep coding!!!

Looks fantastic from what I've seen so far, congrats.
Just wondering if you have some interior archvis samples for gallery?, the reason I ask is because after the last Hypershot hype that had everyone rushing around buying it only to find it was extremely limited and one could not add lights etc, I'd like to avoid this as my main need will be archvis and I'd like the engine to be capable of achieving interior as well as exterior renders.
Being unbiased is perfect, so we are half way there.
Will there be any animation features in the future? as with these speeds animation is a must, imagine an unbiased render solution that can render a smal animation in a few hours compared to a few weeks.
I see the introductory open beta is 99 euro, will that be via Paypal? if not what will the US$ price be?

My background is more in photography than rendering, so when I saw "shift lens" (I assume it will rotate and tilt too) on the features list ... two words: can't wait!

Hi Solo, Here's a quote from the FAQ, regarding animation. So fingers crossed there will be other methods of bringing animaitons besides RIB exporters.Solo wrote:Looks fantastic from what I've seen so far, congrats.

Is animation supported in Octane Render?
The release version (Octane Render V 1.0) will include RenderMan™ compatible RIB importing, which is supported by many animation packages.
