Yes, in that scene irradiance map is used. That makes blurred shadows.

I am not a vray user.. It hought it might be something fromout octane render..
If not... sorry for this question.. Just didn't know and I was intreged by this subject.

It is an optimization of indirect illumination. Works like interpolation, make inderect lighting more smooth. But it works really bad with animation.
