There seems to be a great performance loss with the latest version of Octane3dsmaxRC2 compared to RC2 standalone. Here is comparison with screenshots in progress and finals.

octane3dsmax RC2 took 1 minute 15 seconds
octaneStandalone RC2 took 40 seconds.

What's the poly count?
Max plugin has to transfer the scene to GPU before it starts rendering.
It increases total time taken.
Checking your memory usage it should not take that long though.

The polycount for this scene is 136,000 polys. The time for voxelizing is on taken into account when rendering final frames. Through the open viewport it should the same time taken in the standalone edition. The main problem here is it's apparently almost twice as slow at reaching it's final amount of samples which is 100. considering that the v1 final should be out soon, I thought that everything would be the same. When I render final frames the time is higher and that's because it includes the time taken to load in memory.

I did another test and rendered out a final frame. It took 1 minute and 20 seconds. Those extra seconds added are taken from the voxelization time.
