Is there a "Octane for 3dsmax Benchmark" scene around?
Are there any comparisons between Fermi GTX5xx vs. Kepler GTX 6xx? in 3dsMax

I don`t have a benchmark, but I can safely say that the current version for Kepler runs a hell of a lot faster than the previous one.

I am sure that i am not the only one here, who is craving for a direct comparison.
it seems there are many working on GTX5xx´s that would like to "upgrade" to GTX6xx
but did not dare....
Many of those who did a few months ago, were disappointed, first.

I would also like to see that... i have been thinking about getting another gtx590, but after seeing the post about the speed improvements in rc3, im hesitant.. also id love to get the kepler series because of the texture limits being 256 and not 64! :(.

The plugin uses the same render core as the standalone version and the performance is therefore the same. In the standalone version a GTX 690 is about as fast as a GTX 590, sometimes a bit slower sometimes a bit faster. A GTX 680 is about 10-15% (in some cases up to 20%) slower than a GTX 580. That's because there is a big difference between a GTX 580 GPU and one(!) GTX 590 GPU, while there is not much difference between a GTX 680 GPU and one (!) GTX 690 GPU.

Marcus

Thanks , Marcus!
Do you think there is speed potential for the Keplers with CUDA 5
or was that it?

We tried it and there is no magic speed up unfortunately. Otherwise we would have switched already ;)

thank you ver ymuch for that insight Marcus, could u please tell us about the texture limits? can u really go beyond the 64 bitmaps (up to the 256 they claim)with the keplers in octane?
