First , I am using this plugin version 3.03 demo and not the stable (?) 2.58 plugin version , Have both 3ds max 2012 and 2013 instaled , I am using 2013.
Shall I consider reinstaling the 2.58 and leave the beta for more advanced users ?
I use a Quadro 4000 , it is only quick in the standalone version.and I am considering , using another video card for usage and use 4000 for rendering .Which (unexpensive) card shall I acquire ?
My scene is so heavy that When I use any extra geometry, it is invisible in the viewport (Max fault) and a frame with only 500 samples in the plugin ,
is taking more than 40 minutes to get decent , and using direct light with difuse
, because pathtracing and pmc , forget about it , I am talking animation.
The plugin is my only option as I am using a tracked camera in order to compose as a background for a RED 1 camera shot to be keyed in Smoke.
All that said .I can't see enough concern about the need to develop compability with FBX ,not even talking about Alembic.
Only basic camera importing and point cache files would be so Great.
The plugin should be enough.I have maxwell and Vray licenses, as well, but Maxwell doesn't handle interiors well, take centuries to render, so Octane is my only choice.
Vray can be photorealistic but takes longer to tweak and your only option is to be an expert ?
Same thing with Octane, Here in this Beta , technicalities and development are the must, but can the plugin be an advantage towards mental Ray , Iray or other
max options?? I've Already published in the plugins general forum my concerns about integrate everything in the mammoth thirsty 3ds Max.
performance goes slugish as always ,and Octane's promisses are left behind ?
