Hello,
I asked this question some time ago but never got any feedback.
Are there any plans of implementing render passes?
I'm not aware of any render engine out there that doesn't support render passes.
The lack of this feature is currently the only reaseon for me why Octane is just a nice "toy" but not ready for production use.
There should be at least the possibilty to hide objects from camera, exlude shadows and basic features like this.

If you render product visualizations and 3D user interfaces, it is almost impossible to build an interactive model without having render passes.
IMHO this is a must have feature that every other render engine offers.

It would be nice if you could shed some light on this.
Thanks

I don´t know any unibased renderer which has passes like ambient, diffuse, reflection etc.
It seems not realy simple to implement it...

Hi, some render passes are included since a long time, look in the deep_channel_kernel near the other kernels PT, PMC, etc.

Well, the two closest competitors in the field of unbiased GPU accelerated renders, namely cycles and arion support a lot of options regarding render passes and compositing.

For example in cycles you have visibility settings PER OBJECT including camera, diffuse, glossy, transmission, shadow and you can even move objects to different layers and let them be masked by other objects.
You also have a lot of options for render passes of the render itself.

Arion offers options to hide objects from camera or completely and supports passes like ambient occlusion, matte/shadow, fresnel, roughness etc.
So at least these two show that it is possible.

Don't get me wrong, octane is a great product, but this is one of the few things that are missing to make octane a production ready tool.
If people have to decide wether they buy octane or another product, this might be one of the reasons why octane will lose the competion.
At least for me this IS the reason.
