I wanted to create a simple render, with quiet and harmonious atmosphere. The scene has only 56132 triangles, but rendering 4000 samples/px took 9 hours because of the complex reflections (max depth 32).

Original resolution was 3840 x 2400 px, resized to 2560 x 1600, so it can be used for example as a desktop wallpaper on a 30-inch display.

i'd be interested to see what time this scene will take to render to the same quality with the upcoming beta 2.1 with MLT ;)

Actually the idea for this picture was born when I decided to try the free 30-day trial of MoI. The wine glass was the first thing I ever had created with nurbs and it was finished about 30 seconds after I had opened the MoI user interface the first time ever.

Originally the scene had some glossy surfaces, which produced even more interesting reflections, but the amount of fireflies in the picture was insane. So, this version of the picture has only diffuse and specular materials -> no fireflies.

Yes, the picture would look classier if the glass was more delicate. I will play with the scene during the weekend a bit more. Maybe Radiance can move this thread to "work in progress" area in the board. ;)

Buy it, seriously its awesome ;)
Im currently doing architecture project for a real time engine with it
Even if its not the main use of it, I found it so smooth to work with that I use it
