Hello Otoy team,

I was thinking of a way to support your effort to make a better software...
Couldn't you create a donation system by paying in monthly instalments via paypal ?
could be a good way to help you and in return you should send a link to your donators by mail when a new version is coming ?

I was thinking of this because, as a hobbyist, I didn't use very much octane so i can't give as much money as I want (3 or 5 euros by month would be my max i think) but I would be happy to participate to your developpement because untill 3 years now I use octane and think that's a great software that laks of essentials fonctionnalities (keyframed animation, procedural textures axes linked to objects axes...)

Hope that you understand my idea and that other octane users won't hate me for this suggestion :D .

Cheers,
Ludovic.

I think that you have missed the point. You buy a licence for Octane. Once you have bought it, you do not need to carry on paying a licence fee. It is a one off payment.

Donating to the company would not guarantee you that the features you need will be done any faster, or at all.

Yep I know that but I was thinking that if they've got more money they could have more programmer working on Octane and update it more quickly. Other 3D apps updates every years and costs much more than 90€ to update.

If I compare to my C4D licence it cost me more and I've lost Advanced Render in the transition between my R11.5 and the new R14 .That's why I need more developpment for Octane.

But that was just a suggestion...

There are already several people working on Octane now and we should see the effects of this soon. There is an update due to be released next week, so wait a few days before taking out your wallet... :)

There was a similar discussion around 18 months ago.
Some peopled offered donations to increase the development speed because octane was lacking many features.
The general feedback was that there was no need for funding. Income will be regulated by the license price.
